Curriculum
Detroit Early Middle College implements a curriculum that is fully aligned with the Michigan Merit Curriculum (MMC). The curriculum prepares students for success in high school and postsecondary pathways leading to associate degrees, transferable college credits, or industry-recognized credentials.
Core academic instruction is delivered in the following subject areas using high-quality, evidence-based instructional materials.

- Social Studies
- World Language
- Health/Physical Education
- Visual/Performing Arts
- Online learning experience, which will be fulfilled through online courses or integrated digital learning experiences.
Curriculum materials are selected for rigor, cultural responsiveness, accessibility, and relevance to college and career readiness outcomes. Instructional practices include inquiry-based learning, technology integration, and personalized support to scaffold student success as they progress into college-level coursework.
Detroit Early Middle College also embeds college success skills, academic advising, and career pathway exploration throughout the curriculum to support persistence in high school and postsecondary transition. Curriculum reviews will occur regularly in collaboration with faculty and postsecondary partners to ensure alignment with current academic standards and early college benchmarks.
